Prediction/My picks for the 2020 Album of the Year Grammy

I'm going to separate this into 3 categories:

1) What I think will win

2) My pick for album of the year

3) My ranking according to what I actually enjoy/how likely it is that I will listen to it againhat is the most fun/what i will listen to the most

i,i by Bon Iver

This is definitely a very strong contender for Album of Year. While this may not have been my personal favorite, I appreciate the involvement that Justin Vernon had in the album's creation and implementation. And I think it will be nearly impossible for any other nominated album to come close to the involvement he had on i,i.

Norman F***ing Rockwell by Lana Del Rey

Objectively, I think this is a strong contender based on the reception that this has received. I think Lana put a lot of work into it and that I respect, but it's near the bottom for my personal ranking.

When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? by Billie Eilish

I just love this album. Billie and Finneas did an amazing job taking on all of this by themselves and they should be recognized.

I think this is a favorite to win. Billie has been a phenomenon and has just taken off.

Thank U, Next by Ariana Grande

While I do personally enjoy the album, I don't think that this should win. All the songs are pretty basic, with only a few stand outs. I also don't think that Ariana's talents are utilized to her full capacity. While I don't think it's necessary for the main artist to be fully involved with every step of the process, it is something that I like to see. If the album was just so good, I might be able to ignore this, but since the album is pretty meh, I just don't feel like this album took much effort.

I Used to Know Her by H.E.R

It's almost unfair that this is even in this category. The content is definitely there, but it just doesn't have anywhere near the public reception that the other nominated albums do. I think it's a very valiant effort by H.E.R in the starting stages of her career. I think that she has the potential to make history with the next couple of albums she puts out if she plays her cards right.

I don't think there's any possible way for her to win. The numbers and interest just aren't there compared to all the others.

7 by Lil Nas X

Again, I think it's a little unfair for this to even be included in the same category as all the others. Just because this is an EP and is so short compared to all the others.

I did personally like it, but I also just don't think it's on the same caliber as the other nominees. But I also don't think it was created with the intention of being a masterpiece. I think it was just supposed to be a fun little album. It's not as deep as the others. It was probably only nominated because of the craze that was "Old Town Road."

Cuz I Love You (Deluxe) by Lizzo

Lizzo is hands down the best performer of the year. She's the only one out of the nominees that dances. She dances and sings very well. She's high energy. She plays flute when she performs. But I guess that's a discussion point for a different category.

This album though is really good, Lizzo sings the hell out of it. The audience reception is definitely there. I think this is a strong contender as well.

Father of the Bride by Vampire Weekend

While I personally wasn't really a fan, I can definitely respect the amount of work they put in.

Here are my predictions/rankings according to each category:

1. Norman F***ing Rockwell, Lana Del Rey

2. When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, Billie Eilish

3. Thank U, Next, Ariana Grande

5. i,i, Bon Iver
