This is album #42/20 that I listened to for my 20 for 2020 challenge. I listened to this album 8 times for my review.
Here are some quick stats about Ungodly Hour by Chloe x Halle:
I had been hearing a lot of buzz around this album, so decided to give it a try. I’m really glad that I decided to pick up this album.
I really liked this album! I think these songs are pretty unique. I think there is a lot of variety between songs, with it still feeling very cohesive. The vocals are good, the melodies are catchy. It’s all so good. There are a few songs that are a little meh, but the majority of the songs are bops. My favorite tracks were “Forgive Me” and “Do It.” My all time favorite was “Don’t Make It Harder On Me.” I really like that one. I really looked forward to picking up this album every time.
Chloe and Halle are listed as writers on all the songs. Some songs were written by just the two of them, others typically had 2-4 other writers. As usual, I just really have to shout out when the main artist (in this case artists) is so integral in the songwriting process behind the scenes. These girls are incredibly talented.
I would definitely recommend for people to listen to this album. I will continue to listen to this album in full as well as listening to my select favorite songs. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for their future albums, and I will eventually want to listen to their first album as well. I would give this album a 8/10. If you’ve listened to this album, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments down below.
