This is Album #21/20 that I listened to for my 2020 challenge. I listened to this album 8 times for my review.
Here are some quick stats about Kelsea by Kelsea Ballerini:
I really liked this album! I'm not going to do a track list breakdown because I liked all the songs. My favorites were "Overshare" and "Club." I love those songs so much! I just really connected to this album. I know some people may not like it because it's too basic and not risky enough, but I like that. I like that it's just a casual, good, catchy time. It's so chill and easy to enjoy. I also appreciate that there's a lot of variety in the album. There's country focused songs, there's country-pop fusion, there's modern pop, there's uptempo songs, there's slow, sad songs. It has everything! All of the songs are very distinctive.
Ballerini is listed as a writer on all of the tracks of this album. Most of the songs are written with two to four other writers. The amount of writers aren't extensive, so I do believe that she probably had a big input in the songwriting process which I love!
Listen or don't listen? Listen. I know a lot of people aren't country fans, but I think this is enough of a crossover into pop that most people would like this.
Buy or don't buy? Buy. I think this girl is super talented. This is a solid pop album. Every song is good. Definitely worth the buy.
I loved this album. I will definitely continue listening to it. I will probably go back and listen to her previous albums as well. And of course I will be looking out for her future work. I would give this album a 7/10. Have you listened to this album? Let me know your thoughts down below.
