This is Album #4/20 that I listened to for my 2020 challenge. I listened to this album 8 times for my review.
Here are some quick stats about Everything Else Has Gone Wrong by Bombay Bicycle Club:
Album #5
Released January 17, 2020 (Last album release 2014)
Album length: 41:40, 11 tracks
Doesn't appear to have charted on the US Billboard 200
Genre: Indie rock
Metacritic score: 74/100
This album was pretty generic. Nothing really stood out to me, good or bad. I'm not even going to do a track list breakdown for this one. I would just zone out while trying to listen to it. I just found it extremely boring. I'm not going to be adding any of these songs to my personal playlist and I probably won't be coming back to this album. It's pretty forgettable I think. I was able to recognize the first song ("Get Up"), but that is literally the only song that I remember or can distinguish from the others.
This album is definitely more complex than the mainstream pop albums I previously listened to and reviewed, so it would make sense that it would take more listens for me to be able to understand it. But I really had to force myself to continue on with it. This album was definitely one that I had to force myself to listen to it. It's tough for me to listen to something eight times and even by the eighth time still not be able to recognize or be interested in any of the songs. It wasn't bad ever, it was just so boring.
This is a band, so they obviously play all of their own instruments. They also wrote their own songs, which is always a big deal for me. Unfortunately, I think this type of music just all sounds the same to me.
I'm probably never going to listen to this again. I didn't dislike it, it was just so generic that I would give this a 5/10 rating.
Have you listened to this album? I'd love to hear your thoughts down below.
