Disney+ Week 2 Recap

In this post I'm going to discuss my thoughts on the third episodes of the five main original shows on Disney+, and any thoughts I have on the other original content that came out this week. At the end of the post I will also have my weekly ranking of all the episodes.

This week, I don't have too many thoughts on each individual episode since we're now starting to get the ball rolling with these shows. We're starting to get used to each world and what's happening. So below I'll just discuss a few points I wanted to discuss.

I have a few random points I want to make first. First, I just want to define my Disney+ weeks as Friday through Thursday of each week. Episodes for the five main shows come out on Fridays, so I'm counting the week starting when the episode drops on Friday until Thursday, the day before the next week's episode comes out. Also I just wanted to point out another problem I'm having with the Disney+ interface. I'm not sure if it's just on Roku, or just my model of Roku, but I can't turn off captions which is kind of weird and annoying. I'm able to turn captions off on my Amazon firestick but not on the Roku. I'm not sure if anyone else is having this problem.

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL: THE MUSICAL: THE SERIES, EPISODE 3

I have pretty random thoughts for this episode. So I'm just going to write them in bulleted form:

-I like Carlos. We need to see more of him.

-OK, but Ricky would be absolutely perfect to play Edward in a Twilight remake in about 5 years. Is that just me that sees that??

-Also, I know what I said last week about Ricky vs. EJ, but now I'm starting to like Ricky. Oops.

-It's cool that Nini has two moms. Even though its subtle, it's cool that there's that little bit of representation and that Disney isn't afraid to have a lesbian couple in one of their shows.

-I do think I started to zone out in this episode. It was a little boring.

THE WORLD ACCORDING TO JEFF GOLDBLUM, EPISODE 3 (TATTOOS)

I thought Jeff Goldblum was particularly interesting in this episode. I liked seeing his zany character come out. I also think this was a more interesting topic (tattoos). I liked learning about the Hawaiian tattooing tradition. I also liked seeing Jeff Goldblum go to Jeff Goldblum day and interact with his fans and see all the tattoos of himself. I've seen Youtube videos of him reacting to thirst tweets to him, or reacting to tattoos of his face, so I really like watching that stuff. He has really great reactions.

I like more of the format of "Jeff tries stuff." For example, in this episode I liked the part where Jeff tried a tattoo gun and tattooed on the practice hand and then later he got to tattoo a real person. I think that stuff is more interesting than just learning about the history of these topics. I like seeing his reaction to getting to try this stuff. Of course Jeff Goldblum "tried stuff" in the other episodes, but trying sneakers and ice cream isn't as interesting. Anyone has tried ice cream and shoes. It's more rare for someone to have experienced what it feels like to hold a tattoo gun and tattoo someone.

I took a look at the upcoming topics and pretty much all of them seem pretty boring to me. I feel like this episode might be my highest rated for any of the episodes this season just because this is the topic that interests me the most.

THE MANDALORIAN, EPISODE 3

I'm still going to complain that these episodes are too short. Baby Yoda was adorable as always and I'm loving all the Baby Yoda memes. This episode was the best so far. It had a really good self-contained structure. There was a good beginning, middle, end, buildup, climax etc. The other two episodes were pretty much set up episodes with not much happening within them.

ENCORE, EPISODE 3 (THE SOUND OF MUSIC)

I thought this cast had really good chemistry together. I liked their dynamic together. And I thought the main actress who played Maria was really good! I liked her energy! She was adorable. I liked this episode the best so far.

IMAGINEERING STORY, EPISODE 3

Wow! They got Michael Eisner in to interview for this! I'm not sure, but I feel like that's pretty rare. So that's really cool! I also feel like we got to see a lot of rare footage this week. So that was all really cool to watch! I'm loving these episodes. Keep it coming Disney!

FORKY ASKS A QUESTION, EPISODE 3 (WHAT IS ACTING?)

-I like that this episode had Mr. Pricklepants. He doesn't get enough attention in this franchise.

-Has anyone else noticed that they've been playing the Monsters Inc song in these Forky shorts...? I've noticed it in the other episodes but I wasn't sure and didn't want to say anything. But in this episode it was more obvious and I was able to tell for sure that they are playing the Monster's Inc song (specifically it's called Boo's theme). I have so many questions about this...
