20 for 2020!!!

I'm going to start a challenge for myself for the new year. Since I have interests in a wide variety of media I thought it would be interesting for me to try and challenge myself in 2020. I am planning on viewing/listening/reading 20 books, 20 movies, 20 TV show seasons and 20 albums and will review them on my blog. I have been slacking on these media lately because I've been sidetracked by YouTube and podcasts. I'd like to be able to refocus on more classic media. This content is more substantial in my opinion and will give me more content to be able to review. I have especially been slacking on spending time on books and albums. This challenge will force me to spend more time with books and albums especially.

RULES:

  1. Each piece just be dated/released in 2020. Because of this, there may be a bit of a delay for me to access books and TV shows. I will only be able to watch shows as they become available on Hulu or Netflix (which means there will likely be a delay). I will also count shows that may have been mostly released in 2019, but at least has one episode that was aired in 2020. I will also only be able to read books as they become available at my library. My library seems to be able to acquire titles about a month after release. So the soonest I'll be able to review a book will likely be February at the earliest.

  2. (For books, movies TV) Sequels and continuing shows count. Any sequels that are released in 2020 will count towards my goal of 20. Similarly, any TV shows in their 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc. seasons, will also count towards for the goal of 20.

  3. Netflix movies count. Movies won't be limited to theatrical releases. Streaming service movies will count as well.

BREAKDOWN:

Here is a breakdown of how much time I expect to spend on each media:

-Movies: 2.5 hours each movie (watch each once, assuming 2.5 hours in length) = 50 hours total

-Albums: 5 hours on each album (listen to each 5 times, assuming 1 hour in length) = 100 hours total

-TV: 20 hours each season (watch each season once, assuming 20 1 hour episodes) = 400 hours total

-Books: 10 hours each book (read through once, assuming 10 hours read time) = 200 hours total

As you can see, it's not anywhere near an even split. But I like the way 20 for 20 sounds so I want to do 20 for each media type. I may also do more than 20, but my goal is to do at least 20 of each.

Below are some media that I'm excited for that I expect to review in 2020.

  • Black Widow

  • Wonder Woman 1984

  • Soul

Albums:

This is more of a wishlist. Things I've heard rumors of, or what I really hope to see this year. I've been slacking a little in this area so I'm not as up to speed with the music scene these days.

  • Justin Bieber

  • Hayley Williams/Paramore

  • Tove Lo

Books:

I have been out of the book scene for awhile so I don't really have any anticipated titles. This year will just have to surprise me!

I plan to post a review for each item as I go. At the end of the year, I will post a ranking or a Top 5 of my favorites over the year. I think that's about all I have to say. Are any of you going to embark on this challenge with me? Do you have any movies/shows/books/albums that you're especially looking forward to? Let me know in the comments down below!
